Bring home one of Hawaiʻi's most beautiful and rewarding tropical fruit trees with healthy Mountain Apple plants from Wai Mālie Farms. Our nursery-grown plants are an excellent choice for homeowners, gardeners, and growers looking for Mountain Apple plants for sale in Maui. With their vibrant fruit, glossy evergreen foliage, and beautiful spring blossoms, Mountain Apple trees make an outstanding addition to edible landscapes, food forests, and tropical home gardens.
Mountain Apple, known locally as ʻŌhiʻa ʻAi, produces crisp, refreshing fruit with a mildly sweet flavor that has been enjoyed throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific for generations. The tree is equally valued for its ornamental beauty, producing spectacular clusters of pink to deep red flowers that attract pollinators before developing into colorful fruit.
Mountain Apple thrives in Maui's warm tropical climate and grows best in full sun to partial shade with adequate moisture and well-draining soil. It pairs beautifully with avocado, mango, citrus, coffee, longan, lychee, mulberry, and many other tropical fruit trees, creating productive food forests and edible landscapes that provide beauty and harvests throughout the year.
As the tree matures, it develops into a dense evergreen canopy that offers welcome shade and can be used as a beautiful privacy screen around your property. While Mountain Apple creates excellent visual screening and shade, it should not be relied upon as a primary windbreak in areas exposed to strong trade winds.
Our healthy nursery-grown Mountain Apple plants are well-established and ready to be transplanted into larger containers or directly into the ground. With proper care, they will mature into beautiful tropical trees that provide ornamental value, cooling shade, seasonal fruit, and enjoyment for generations.
